FESTSPIELHAUS, ERL

After two years of construction under the direction of the architects Delugan Meissl, the Festspielhaus for the Tirolean Festival Erl was inaugurated in December 2012. ewo developed a new form of lighting fixture for this cultural institution, which is both impressive and respectfully integrated into the landscape, a fixture that does not compete with the architecture. In addition to the integrated lighting elements to illuminate the outdoor spaces, there are LEDs directed towards the inside of the fixture’s disk-likecasing, visibly illuminating it since the bands around the sides are made of Plexiglas. While adhering to the uniform programme thus defined, the mast lighting fulfils various functions depending on its location: along the driveway, numerous high masts provide evenly distributed, clearly delineated illumination. Lower masts around the building create a playful rhythm of light and dark. The corresponding configuration, which uses our standard LED unit while masking the glass surface, makes the variation possible.
