A conversation about nature and human centric lighting as well as urban planning and nightscapes
Light is so much more than its pure function. It is creative and protective; it is humane and forward-looking. Light tells stories – of safety, of community, of technology and art.
Not only does light have the means to positively influence people’s and nature’s well-being and health, but it also sets the pace for the circadian rhythm, a physiological 24-hour cycle our bodies tend to follow. Light sets the scene for architecture, it creates space for gatherings, it paves ways and is – not always, but more and more often – intelligent. Light is a voice.
To make the most of its power, light must be used skillfully: What this has to do with creativity, energy consumption and the Internet of Things is what we are going to talk about in the sixth edition of ewoTALKS. This time in Copenhagen – with Anker & Co, fortheloveoflight and, of course, ewo.

Founder of Anker & Co.
Michael Anker grew up in a family of design connoisseurs. Design and business were everyday topics during his childhood, so it came as no surprise when he later on joined his family’s design business. His responsibility was to build a lighting portfolio: In combining decorative with technical lighting and offering both options to his clients, Michael was a trailblazer in the market.
In 2014, he then founded his own company. The desire to geek out about light in collaboration with architects and designers while simultaneously being head of the creative process from idea to physical implementation led him to set up Anker & Co. Now, Michael works with a team of skilled lighting specialists whom he has collaborated with before—all driven by a passion for design and lighting and by a desire to find exactly the right lighting solutions.
Lighting designer & founder of fortheloveoflight
As founder and creative in charge of the independent lighting design studio fortheloveoflight based in Copenhagen, Nikolaj Birkelund works primarily within the realm of architecture, landscaping and exhibition lighting design. One of his latest works is the lighting design of the new multi-use district Postbyen in the center of Copenhagen which he implemented together with ewo.
Hannes Wohlgemuth took over the management of the South Tyrolean luminaire manufacturer ewo in 2019. As the son of the founders, ewo was with him long before he decided to join the family business in 2012 after completing his architectural studies in Innsbruck, Seville and Graz. Having been raised at ewo, he gained experience in every department and thus acquired a fundamental knowledge of the lighting industry. As sales and marketing director of ewo, he focused on strengthening international influence and global market expansion. Since spring 2017, Hannes has also been Managing Director of connexx, a start-up company that develops hardware and software solutions for smart components. All these activities are driven by creative solutions coupled with innovation.
