FARI ISLANDS — ATMOSPHERIC LIGHTING IN THE PARADISE OF THE MALDIVES

An international architectural project has created two major resorts in the heart of the Maldives on Fari Islands: Ritz Carlton Resort and Patina Resort. To illuminate the areas of the scenic walkways over the water and for the outdoor areas of these luxurious resorts, bollards lights were developed for the lighting designer The Flaming Beacon in what is now the standard if round version, and a variant equipped with a special diffuser created with the lighting designer for the projects.

For the Ritz Carlton Resort over 1,000 units in RAL9011 colour have been provided, some of which are fixed laterally to the wooden boardwalks, one of which leads to the imposing spa with its circular construction in the middle of the resort. The Patina Resort, on the other hand, has been illuminated with over 1,000 units in ’Rusty Iron’ finish, which best matches the resort’s colours. For both resorts, Warm White lighting of 2.200 K was used to ensure a cosy atmosphere in harmony with the surrounding landscape.

Thanks to the know-how and the possibility of choosing the most suitable photometric distributions, it has been possible to minimize the number of luminaires that have been installed: AP07 Extra Forward Throw lenses for the villas and AP06 Extra Side Throw lenses for the paths and the boardwalks. High adaptability also for the attachment of the lights offered in two systems: side mounting wall plate for the boardwalks and a telescopic element for floor-mounting applications.

Because of the projects location in the middle of the Indian Ocean, in an atmosphere characterised by high levels of salinity, the bollard lights were subjected to the advanced ewoECP (Extreme Corrosion Protection) additional surface treatment to guarantee quality over time.

With this wonderful project, ewo has been able to take another step in its mission by amplifying the feeling of wellbeing outdoors for all travellers staying at these facilities thanks to a discreet lighting solution.
