NORDALLEE, MUNICH

The new lighting concept for Munich’s Nordallee ensures pleasant, consistent and markedly brighter illumination of the street, the pavements and the adjacent parking spaces. With the 237 luminaires based on the F–System, ewo applied the central quality characteristics of its LED-based technologies to an economical, high-performance lighting scenario – while using a uniform product solution.

The plan was to use the poles that already existedat the location. The challenge in this context proved to be their irregular placement. The area was not laid out in a uniform manner, in many places there are pavements that were to be precisely illuminated, while in others there were none. In addition, the poles for the streetlights are at varying distances from the street. Only a sufficiently variable system can offer a consistently functional lighting scenario in such a situation without changing the position of some of the poles. ewo’s product concept also made it possible to refrain from using a second separate luminaire to illuminate the pavement behind the streetlights, as is often the case.

A smaller version of the already proven F-System high-mast lighting pole can be equipped with a variable number of cold white spotlight units. The direction, the angle and the distribution characteristics of the light radiated can not only be used for every luminaire but also adjusted flexibly from one lighting unit to the next. By defining a number of appropriate configurations, it was already possible during the planning stage to ensure that all areas along the street, the parking spaces and through to the periphery could be consistently and precisely illuminated in compliance with the technical standards.
